Ozzy Osbourne – I Don't Want to Change the World Lyrics 19 years ago
There are so many people out there, generally conformists like OzzyGurly stated, that look on other people that aren't like them in a demeaning manner, and consider them either inferior or insane. If you don't fit into their ideal personality type, they will try to bring you down and tear you up. I think Ozzy probably got a lot of this, especially from parents, and just got sick of it. Like he said, he's not trying to change the world, he's not trying to get other people to do what he wants, he's just being himself. I don't necessarilly think that he's making a definite effort to be a nonconformist, that's just the way he is. You stay out of my business, and I'll stay out of yours.
The lyrics "I spoke to God this morning and He don't like you" basically mean that nobody is perfect, and anyone that's trying to convey that they are should step down from their high horse. He's made his peace with God, he's comfortable with who he is, and that's all that matters.

Metallica – One Lyrics 19 years ago
Ondjage, I believe "One" refers to the main character in the book, more or less forgotten and ignored by the rest of the world. He's in his own world now, no sight, no hearing, no speech...nothing. He is the only one. Also if anyone remembers from the book, at the end he actually figured out a way to try to communicate with the staff at the hospital by banging his head on his pillow in morse code. Do you think that this song could possibly be a semi tribute to the original headbanger?

Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 1 Lyrics 20 years ago
I heard that Roger Water's inspiration for the song was that when he was performing in front of an arena crowd, he, for some reason or another, spit on one of the fans in the front of the stage. He's admitted that for awhile he hated performing live, but after that incident, he felt bad about it, and felt like he'd built a brick wall between him and the audience, the fans that make his career. After that, part of their show actually consisted of building a brick wall on the stage throughout the course of the concert, then at the end, while performing Another Brick in the Wall, they would tear it down. Apparently that was getting pretty spendy though, and it only lasted for about 60 shows.

Pink Floyd – The Dogs of War Lyrics 20 years ago
I've heard the same thing that pigegg stated, but another story i also heard was about an outnumbered group of marines fighting in France during WWII. There was a forest that the marines had to get through to either take or just to accomplish some other mission, but in the forest was a large group of german soldiers. There were about 50 marines, and over 200 germans, so the marines charged into the forest, killed damned near every german, took some captive, and accomplished their mission. The marines had 0 casualties. The surviving germans begans calling the marines Devil Dogs after the battle. Supposedly one of the Members of PF learned of this story and they penned the song. Could be true, could be bunk. Don't know, but I thought it was an interesting piece to add.

Led Zeppelin – Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman) Lyrics 20 years ago
I never thought about the whole prostitute thing, but it is a different angle on the song. I always thought it was the same as Robertnasir and cartman said it was.

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics 20 years ago
Alright, i'm going to beat a dead horse here, but nobody knows what the hell this song is about. Even the band says there was no real meaning behind it when they wrote it. Page just started a chord progression on his guitar, then Plant started improving some lyrics. That was the base of the song, and they just built onto it from there. There's some religious references, possibly some LOTR references, probably just some drug induced references, and whatever else the band thought sounded good.
