The Decemberists – I Don't Mind Lyrics
|
I think the person singing is either alluding to a Jesus-like forgiveness, or is, in fact, Jesus. The singer is speaking to a friend who is going through 'hard times'--perhaps having doubts with something, any situation really that might call for friendly support--mentioning examples of pure humanity, that is, flawed elements inside each and every one of us; the singer says "look, it's not just you that does these things...this person does this and this person messed up here"... and so on. Notice how the conjunction 'but' has an appearance multiple times in the song-each time marking a kind of comparable transition from 'positive' traits or descriptions to an imperfect view. The phrase 'I don't mind' carries with it this kind of forgiveness, this 'it's alright "ness"', to me. |

M. Ward – I'll Be Yr Bird Lyrics

There's this song called 'Making Whoopee' and it has the same notes. I heard it instrumentally on the television tonight. I also saw a video on youtube and I'm so far convinced they share notes/beats.
Anyone know what I am talking about? |

Solid State Revival – Step Into The Sun Lyrics

i think it is appropriate that it is on the verb commercial since it carries with it the whole "you can do it" ideology that is preached to our youth. It is a hopeful, confident song. |

The Decemberists – As I Rise Lyrics
|
the singer has come a long way (fought many "battles" gone through obstacles etc.) and he has scars (bilsters) from it. california, meaning a dry, hot place...maybe out in the open..was ok but now he is in the shade...he's in a cooler environment...he's happier here...and through all of his pain he finds what he is looking for-ladybug,ladybird meaning his love-and shes the prettiest song he has heard-shes lovely..you know..
so hes in love and goes through hell to reach her-and he does. and thats my interpretation... |

Neutral Milk Hotel – Oh Comely Lyrics

i thought that the beginning of the song is the singer talking about a person he is in love with and how he will be with her when she loses her breath (sex for the first time) but the rest is just full of sex-related metaphors and wonderful lyrics which mesmerize me so i suppose i dont want to know what the song is about and so im proud of jeff mangum...hahaha modest mouse so rules |
