Atheist – Mother Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. It's the one that got me hooked on this band. |
Bad Religion – Faith in God Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"I like how the song refers to "god haters" as having faith in god because "god haters" are theists, not atheists as many christians seem to think. " Actually you are wrong. If somebody believes that god exists and hates him, then he is a theist.[NOTE:Exactly my point] If a person does not believe a god exists and hates the followers of such a silly concept... he is indeed an atheist.[NOTE:Completely unrelated to what I said] Allow me to understand this: You just said that you agree with me on something, and then argued against a statement I did not make. Maybe you thought that I was calling Bad Religion "god haters." |
Bad Religion – Bored and Extremely Dangerous Lyrics | 19 years ago |
>>> >> >> The 'school shooting' interpretation is directly related to "deep empathy for other peoples problems." I don't think anyone seriously thinks Bad Religion has or will write a 'I'm pissed and I'm going to hurt someone' song. If you are in-fact familar with Greg and Bretts' lyrics then you are aware that they sometimes use sarcasm or use another person's perspective to make a point. Also, Greg wrote this song, and I don't think he was ever addicted to heroin. |
Bad Religion – Do What You Want Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I just figured it out... This song from the perspective of someone who hates what Bad Religion stands for and is creating a cariture of what they represent. |
Bad Religion – Can't Stop It Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is about the irresponsible behavior of individuals or even the entire human race. |
Bad Religion – Better Off Dead Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"Better Off Dead" is an angry sarcastic response to someone who blames you for something you have no control over. The line that really brings this out to me is "if your looking for a pasty(pasty=someone to blame), why not try the entire human race?" Basically saying "if your going to blame me for something I didn't do, why not blame everyone else too? |
Bad Religion – Turn on the Light Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is about individualism. To "turn on the light" is to show stand tall and be yourself. |
Tori Amos – Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I like Tori's version better. I am a fan of the female voice. |
Bad Religion – Do What You Want Lyrics | 20 years ago |
To Arm: Compared to Bad Religion's catelog, one can see that Bad Religion is quite anti-nilistic. That makes me think song is sarcastic. On big words: According to Brett, he and Greg were "nerdy kids who read all the time." That explains the high vocabulary. Besides the only really high vocabulary word in the song is -misanthropic- |
Bad Religion – Bad Religion Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I don't think the words are different though. Besides, why would they change the words to give very different meanings? (Mr. Mime vs Mr. Mind/regurgitate vs too good to take) Greg's voice wasn't to clear at the time so it is easy to mishear the words. |
Bad Religion – Infected Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Brett said this song was about an abusive relationship. "want to drill you - like an ocean" he said, means violent sex or rape. |
Bad Religion – Faith in God Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I like how the song refers to "god haters" as having faith in god because "god haters" are theists, not atheists as many christians seem to think. |
Bad Religion – Voice of God Is Government Lyrics | 20 years ago |
This song is about the televangelists(who were big in the early 80s, when this song was written) who were trying to take donations and use them to change the government. |
Bad Religion – Leaders and Followers Lyrics | 20 years ago |
The song is about politics. |
Bad Religion – Sorrow Lyrics | 20 years ago |
its "herding ground" not "hurting ground" |
Bad Religion – Sinister Rouge Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Corrected lyrics: (by the way "pontiff" is another word for pope) Innocence Burned, Alive on the Stake Tortured and Dumped in nameless graves Centuries waned, authority died Scattering seeds of ancient lies Sinister Rouge Coming back for more to even the score Sinister Rouge Coming back for more to even the score Child molesters and Jesuits holding secret conference underneath the pontiff’s nose and only God will ever know Sinister Rouge Coming back for more to even the score Sinister Rouge Coming back for more to even the score Give us this day our daily bread the legacy we'll not forget lick the wounds, cleanse the land the modern world rejects your hands Sinister Rouge Coming back for more to even the score Sinister Rouge Coming back for more to even the score |
Bad Religion – Materialist Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Here are the corrected lyrics: You're obsessed and distressed Cause you can't make any sense of the ludicrous nonsense and incipient senescence that will deem your common sense useless this aint no recess! I want to believe in you, but my plan keeps falling through I know I have to face the harshness, grin and bear the truth And I have to walk this mile in my own shoes (and I'm no fool!) [Chorus] I'm materialist a full-out realist and I guess I'm full of doubt so I'm prone to have it out with you I'm materialist There ain't no fear in this it's there for all to see, so don't talk of hidden mysteries with me... Mind over matter, it really don't matter If the street's idle chatter turns your heart strings to tatters Flatter hopes don't flatter and soul batter won't congeal to mend a life that is shattered into shards Was it in the cards? The process of belief is an elixir when you're weak I must confess, at times I indulge it on the sneak but generally my outlook's not so bleak (and I'm not meek!) [Chorus] I'm materialist a full-out realist and I guess I'm full of doubt, but I'll gladly have it out with you I'm materialist I ain't no deist it's there for all to see, so don't of hidden mysteries with me Like Rome under Nero, our future's one big zero Recycling the past to meet the immediate needs And through it all we ramble forth with persevere and climb Our mountains of regret to sow our seeds I'm materialist I'm materialist I'm materialist I'm materialist (hold) |
Bad Religion – I Want to Conquer the World Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Some you folks are taking this song all wrong. The lyrics in the chorus are sarcastic. This song is basically criticizing idealists of all walks of life in there belief that they can "conquer the world" |
Bad Religion – Drastic Actions Lyrics | 20 years ago |
The last line is "A mans choice was never his own" |
Bad Religion – Bored and Extremely Dangerous Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Exhaust Piper: This song was written by Greg not Brett. This song reminds me of Comlumbine or any case of school violence. There are kids who are cast out and tortured and they get pushed over the limit. If someone had listened to their cries for help and showed compassion then such tragedies wouldn't happen. In the break of the song I imagine a angry and desperate kid getting ready to go to school with a gun. The phone rings just a few seconds after he closes the door while leaving. |
Bad Religion – Cease Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Here is how I see it, verse by verse. “Blacktop pavement cover me Like a chemical reaction or a steam roller Spreading randomly There's a distant buzz and low frequency It tickles my ear, it rumbles under my feet And it shakes the leaves off of every tree (Violently)” This verse is from nature’s perspective of the destruction of nature. “Institution on the Hill Like a beacon in the mind of an ancestor To ignite a people's will There's a shadowed stain on the west facade It has spread like decay to enshroud the fraud And the descendents find it oh so odd (Oh so odd)” This is about the fleeting status of institutions, countries, empires, religions and maybe mankind itself. “Grave memorial hewn white stone Like the comforting caress of a mother Or a friend you've always known It evokes such pain and significance What was once is reduced to remembrance And the generations pass without recompense” This takes place in the future after mankind has lost its place as top dog on this planet. “What pretension! Everlasting peace. Everything must cease.” The chorus and the song in generally basically mean: “Nothing lasts forever” |
Bad Religion – Bad Religion Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Some of the lyrics in the song are incorrect. Here are the lyrics from the "How Could Hell be any Worse?" reissue booklet: see my body, it's nothing to get hung about. I'm nobody except genetic runaround. spiritual era's gone, it ain't comin' back. bad religion, a copout, that is all that's left. hey Mr. Mime, stop wasting my time, with your factory precision. factory precision is your bad religion, regugitate. indecision, it's not too late. nad religion, bad religion. Fight! don't you know the place you live's a piece of shit? don't you know blind faith through won't conquer it? don't you know responsibility is ours? I don't care a think about eternal fires. listen this time, it's more than a rhyme, it's your indecision. your indecision is your bad religion, regurgitate. indecision, it's not too late. bad religion, too good to take. indecision, it's not too late. bad religion, bad religion, bad religion. |
Bad Religion – Atheist Peace Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think this song is about how there has been so much war in human history, many do to religious conflicts. "Atheist Peace" is a play off the phrase "Holy War" because they are exact opposites. |
