Burden Brothers – Beautiful Night Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I can see how this song can be about having a great time, and I can see how this song is about depression. But when I really look at the lyrics and analyze it, it seems to me that it is more about a failed relationship. "It's a beautiful night for feeling lonely. A beautiful night for being afraid. So raise your hands you one and onlys. You one of a kind who feel this way." the first verse is about how the singer is talking to his ex, and he doesn't understand how she can want to be alone instead of being with him. He says she is one of a kind for being like this, for prefering solitude to company. "I don't want to talk, Don't want to explain it. I don't want to fuck And I don't want to fight. It's only a feeling, It's fleeting, and fading. It's all over the world And It's only tonight." The second verse is the singer trying to convince her that her precence is all he wants. He doesn't want to talk to her, he doesn't want to have sex, and most importantly he doesn't want to fight. The feelings he has for her are there, and he wants her to bask in them with him, but the feeling is slowly fading so it needs to be done tonight! "It's a perfect time for being wasted. A prefect time to watch the stars. So throw back your head, Come on embrace it. It's a beautiful night wherever you are. It's a beautiful night. A beautiful night, yeah. A beautiful night. A beautiful night to be here." This part is saying how it would be so great to drink with her, to even watch the stars with her, but put simply it would be a beautiful night for them to be together. The singer says "its a beautiful wherever you are" and then ends it with its a "beautiful night here" saying you could be just as happy with him. "All good things will come to you, Maybe tonight (maybe tonight) It's the truth. I don't know. All good things to those who dream. Maybe tonight (maybe tonight) We'll find peace. God I hope so. So raise your hands (raise your hands)." This verse is saying how maybe if she simply were able to open her eyes and dream about a possible future with him, they would find peace. He places all his hope in that. "All good friends, they stood by you. And one at a time (one at a time) They fall down. (they fall down) All your fears are coming true And this is the time (this is the time) Of your life, that defines you. So raise your hands (raise your hands)." It seems this verse is talking about how all of her friends were for her saying that she was doing the right thing, but as time goes on, they see what is happening and stop supporting her, and they fall off. They know what she is doing is stupid. And her fears are comming true, she is absolutly alone. "Under the stars I’m alone among strangers. Confused, connected, diffused and alive. Maybe the future will smile on us, Maybe the future is here tonight." This is the verse that gives me the main idea that it is about two people rather then depression or partying. Through the whole song he is refering to "you" or someone else, and now he is finally singing to himself. saying how he is now surrounded by strangers (new girls that can't compare to his ex), and he hopes that prehaps one day he will end up with her. |
Thousand Foot Krutch – This Is a Call Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like this song...don't get my wrong, but it is exactly like the Our Lady Peace song...almost everything about it is the same even the verses. Both have only 2 that have to do with lost hope, here for comparison: "oh, johnny wishes he was famous spends his time alone in the basement with lennon and cobain and a guitar and a stereo and while he wishes he could escape this but it all seems so contagious not to be yourself and faceless in a song that has no soul" OLP Song "He tells everyone a story, Because he thinks his life is Boring And he fights so you won't ignore him, Because that's his biggest fear And he cries, but you'll rarely him do it He loves, but he's scared to use it So he hides behind the music, 'Cause he likes it that way" TFK song If you can't get the same vibe from both verses, then you have no musical ear...Even the second verse... "oh, and tina, losing faith in what she knows hates her music, hates all of her clothes thinks of surgery and a new nose every calorie's a war and while she wishes she was a dancer and that she'd never heard of cancer she wishes god would give her some answers and make her feel beautiful" OLP Song "She fooled all of her friends into thinking she so strong But she still sleeps with the light on And she acts like it's all right on As she smiles again And her mother lies there sick with cancer And her friends don't understand her She's a question without answers Who feels like falling apart" TFK Song Even some of the like lines, the cancer...are the same, The need for answers...It is all there. IF you can't see it you are blinded by ignorance like FORD, who chose to answer without even looking at the lyrics to OLP, and degrading them without even listening to their song. TFK were "heavily" influenced by OLP, to a point where they dirrectly copied a song, sure not word for for word, but they took the gist, the vibe, and almost the music. That is what gets me. And for you...well what if OLP copied the song, Gravity was produced in 2002, Phenomenon in 2003. |
Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #2 (Laika) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The first verse shows that he wanted to be as far away from his family as possible. "He tore our images out of his pictures, he scratched our names out of all his letters." This is a great line, and it shows that he was tired of his familly, and simply wanted no reminder of them. Now this song seems to be told from his younger brother hence the line "Alexander, our older brother," Now as you notice the singer is always supporting him, no matter what happens, it shows that his younger brother looked up to him in a "all I see is good" view. He would do anything for his brother. Now even though the singer loves his brother, "Our mother shoulda just named you Laika! It's for your own good, it's for the neighborhood!" Most likly shows that he(Alex) was a trouble maker, and his parrents forced him out, hence the reason he crossed out their names and pictures. But in the end his mischevious side gets the better of him, and he ends up in trouble(as mentioned before most likly drugs) and his little brother sticks by him. "Come on Alex don't die or dry up! " So now everythings calmed down, Alex is alive and kicking, and back home. And his father comes home, and it is evident they never liked each other and they fight, and thats the end of it? |

Zebrahead – Dear You (Far Away) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i love this song, i am pretty sure its about a couple and the girl has to leave for some reason, and well they still try to be together, and yet...even though they are together it still hurts inside to know his girl is with people and not him, laughing and hes not the one whos causing it. Hes missing so much and it simply hurts so much. and he then begins to see how even the simple things he had had everday he misses. Man this is so me right now with the relationship.... |

Muse – Time Is Running Out Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i have to agree with both thoughts on the meaning of this song, for the sole reason that both make perfect sense. For the first one, with the love, yes it seems he is viewing her from afar, and finally he gets to be with her, but she is a complete ass to him, and he knows this, and wants to get out of it, but he was soo into her so "addicted" that he keeps telling himself "i wont let you bury it I won't let you smother it I won't let you murder it" And you being his brain, telling him that its over, that time is simply running out. for the other meaning the drug, i can totally see that, with the addiction and the high, and the chorus "I won't let you bury it I won't let you smother it I won't let you murder it" what he wont let bury/smothered/murdered is his own life. |
Muse – Thoughts of a Dying Atheist Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i dont know why, but when i hear this song, and read the lyrics, it makes me think of a relationship, comming to an end, and the singer knows it...but he doenst know how to stop it, cause it is inevitable...and it eats him upinside that he knows the future "trapped beneath my pillow, wont let me sleep" yeah my thoughts, i love this song though not the best but good. |
