Legends of Rodeo – Crazy Eight Lyrics

This song is really sad. It shows a friendship over time that fades because of changes. I think in a way everyone can relate, even if your old best friend isn't a "dope fiend". People change and it's not always for the better, growing older makes way for a loss of innocence. To me, "our weekend fun became your everyday routine" is a line that has a lot of deep meaning. |

Jimmy Eat World – For Me This Is Heaven Lyrics

Once upon a time, I used to think this was a romantic song. But over the past couple of years I've probably heard this song about ten million trillion times and it began to take on a new meaning about a year ago. Now everytime I hear it I think of my old best friend Sarah. You see Sarah and I were inseparable for quite some time, and when she moved away we lost touch. She has lupis and before she moved she was really sick. I find myself worrying about her a lot, wishing I knew she was okay... and hoping she's not as sick as she used to be. And honestly, everytime I hear that last line it makes me cry my eyes out... So yeah, I think this song is really touching but not in a romantic way. |

Alanis Morissette – Hands Clean Lyrics

The first time I heard this song it immediately made me think of my former boss. As I heard it a few more times and listened more attentitively to the words, I thought this song was written straight from my mind. This former boss of mine and I had a very inappropriate relationship- Besides being my boss, he was married with two young children (that I baby sat quite often) and was older than my parents. I swear Alanis took direct quotes from the things he said to me, especially "Let's just keep this to ourselves." I really looke dup to this man, he's a very prominent businessman and accountant in Southern California. I'd always go to him for advice regarding school and guys and he used to say, "One day you'll say you learned everything you know from me."
I don't think either of us ever told anyone about this, and after I moved away it allowed us both to wash our "hands clean" of the whole ordeal. Every once in awhile I still feel guilty about it because I know how wrong it was, but it was just as wrong (if not MORE wrong) on his part. Even though my hands are clean, my conscience remains dirty. Although I'm not much of a fan of Alanis Morissette, this song really has a special meaning to me and I'm so glad I have something I can relate my experience to. |

On the liner notes for "Four Minute Mile" it says that Robert Lowe sings on this song. Does anyone know if that's Rob Lowe the actor? |

The Donnas – 40 Boys In 40 Nights Lyrics

The obvious meaning of this song is screwing all the groupies they (The Donnas) can get ahold of. "The Donnas Turn 21" has a very sexual theme overall and this song definitely contributes to that.
That said- my personal opinion of the song is that it's mocking the lives of male "rockstars". When people hear a woman singing these things it has more shock value- it may even cause a gasp or a "Oh man, what a slut." But *almost* all the men in the music industry do these things without a second thought. In turn, I'd say that this song was made to mock the double standard imposed on female musicians and females in general. |

Oh "The Ghost Dog", you have SO much to learn about women. Trust me, almost any woman could relate to this song. I think there's some sort of genetic defect that makes us endure endless amounts of differing levels of abuse from the men we desire. |

The Smashing Pumpkins – Thirty Three Lyrics

On VH1, there is a show called Storytellers, I'm not sure if anyone else saw it, but anyways this was one of the songs that SP permformed on that. Billy said that he had hoped to write songs titled "66" and "99" for Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness as well, but didn't. He wrote the song when he was 27 and he was first experiencing true success with the band, and moved into a beautiful Victorian house with his girlfriend at the time. It's about his happiness lasting. And also there was something mentioned about a tarot card reader who told him he would be at his most successful/happiest point in his life/career when he was 33. (By the way, I may have gotten some things a little hazy because this a couple of weeks ago and this is just what I remember of it.) Oh yeah... and this is my favourite Smashing Pumpkins' song. |

Jimmy Eat World – Get It Faster Lyrics

Okay... keep in mind that this is just MY OPINION. But whenever I hear this song, it reminds me of masturbation. Think about it. "Don't want a thing from you."= I can do it myself. "Cheating gets it faster."= I can get off faster this way. Plus Jim's creepy voice thrown in there... :-D Don't bash me though. |

Yeah, I didn't see anyone getting offended either. BTW, I don't get Texas at all. Something about people toting M16's into Taco Bell and everywhere else seems a little suspicious to me. No offense though, I possibly just had a bad experience there. And I agree that this song is a little too pop. Their other songs have more of a classic rock influence, I really get into it. |

Although it's funny that it was spelled "profit" it's also rather fitting. I mean, isn't that what drives a lot of the so-called progress? |

I agree that it's about an unhealthy relationship, but I think it goes a little further. Like when he says, "I won't take anything, I don't need anything" he is denying that there is a problem with HIM, that it's the other person's fault. And he believes that whatever he does is justified. |

This song is about self-pity. It reminds me of the people who contemplate suicide because they want to whine and say that nobody will miss them, that no one will go to their funeral. |

I think Hades' view on the song makes the most sense. I never saw it as a love song, I just liked it. I don't know if I understand the Satan reference that gk1erik mentioned though. Like, are you saying that he's singing AS the devil? Or is the devil trying to tempt him and he's quoting? Elaborate, please. |
