The second/third line is definitely not what you have, there are at least two more syllables.
"you have ______ who will season it (all/off)"
The line with "Saxons" I am almost sure isn't right though I have no idea what it actually says.
The last part is definitely "March on."

Yeah, I think those of you who want to make it about God are stretching a good deal. It's pretty straightforward. I'd go with "behind your eyes, the sea" being a description of deep blue eyes. I love this song, maybe my favorite on the record. |

This is an amazing song, as is the Tortoise f/ Bonnie Prince Billy cover of it. I think it resonates best if you came from this sort of town; the sort of place where it feels like time doesn't pass at the same speed it does in the rest of the world. To me, it's just "Mary, let's get in the car and get away from here before we become another piece of the scenery." It's absolutely haunting. |

i don't know, again, the lyrics here aren't super deep, but i love this band and this song. the best couplet in here though is "at times i think that all i need is summer sun/burning in my eyes and breaking through the trees." great song, maybe their best, either this, kobrakai, or five is a four letter word. great band. and yes, ozzfest did rock. |

i think that the "i" character, ben or whoever ben's writing as, doesn't know how to feel about this girl. like she seems all innocent, and he can't decide if the bad experiences he's had with her are the result of his own corruption or if she really is duplicitous. the element of this song i always identify with most is the chorus, because it just reminds me of those relationships where all you do is worry about whats going to go wrong next. i love this song. |

yeah i've been in this situation, except i was kind of the one feeling it but it wasn't there. the speaker in this appears to be the person in the position of nixing the idea of a relationship ('we'd be a walking disaster'). the only thing i can't quite tell is if theres a double meaning to the ending cuz it could be like 'we're an accident waiting to happen' like in a bad way or it could be 'we're an accident, waiting... to happen' like even though it might be bad it will happen anyway. dunno. like the song tho. |

yeah theres a little history behind this one. first of all neil had been bedridden for awhile around the time this was written and had needed a maid. second of all, that part about fell in love with the actress is a reference to carrie snodgrass neils first wife and mother of his son zeke (see the song "new mama"). he saw her playing a maid in a movie and arranged to meet her. it is a great song isn't it? |

yeah, whoever said something about satan was way off, as at the concert i saw (which rocked), he said he didn't acknowledge the existance of satan. couldn't this song just be about religious tolerance? look at the symbol, i think its on the cover of believe (i don't keep my cds in their cases real long), they def tour with it where it combines elements of a cross, a star of david, a wiccan pentagram and the crescent moon of islam. religious tolerance, open mind to a broad array of ideas. he said that a lot at the concert, "focus on how alike we are." this is a good song. |

i wouldn't call him a sellout but at the same time, i don't think as much effort went into a lot of songs on the places you have come to fear the most. it would take days to get through all the metaphoric language in a song like "turpentine chaser." songs like "saints and sailors" just don't quite have that same lyrical kick. i am happy that they have found success but at the same time i hope he returns to the deeper lyrical style he once used. also, i'm sorry folks but the "a summer's kiss" ep sucks big time. it sounds like it was recorded in one day and mixed by a half-drunk apprentice engineer. just my thoughts. this is a cool song. |

you also have to remember that the album "tonight's the night" was a rather drunken, beautiful mess of a tribute to recently (at the time) deceased friends, (guitarist Danny Whitten and CSNY roadie Bruce Barry). i can see how this song would relate to that, as in young has money and fame ("the world on a string") but it "doesn't mean a thing" because he has lost his friends. |

this is a very sadly true song. my personal favorite thing about it is how he often used the "he's my clone" line against george w... i'm gonna go off on a rant here but you can say all the good things you want about him but he's a president who has raped the environment, who has allowed a war to continue in afghanistan long after al-qaieda might have been there and who is bombing iraq seemingly just for the hell of it, being as they're not doing anything they haven't been doing for the many years no one did anything about it. this is what ed is talking about... where society is headed... right off the goddamned edge of the abyss. vote nader if he runs again, if you care at all. |
