The Go-Betweens – Cattle And Cane Lyrics

I swear that this song was written about me, haha. This song makes me a bit nostalgic about growing up in Queensland, Australia in a sugar cane-growing town (Bundaberg) and then moving to Brisbane to go to university.
Excellent song and I can't believe no one's commented on it yet. |

Top choice of a cover song by Spiderbait and good to see that it gave their career a good ol' kick start back to what they were like in the mid-late 90s. |

Midnight Oil – Forgotten Years Lyrics

I think the main focus of this song (athough it may be about multiple themes) is that we should not forget the soldiers who fought in past wars, in particular the Australian and New Zealand ANZAC forces from WW1. Great video clip. |

Midnight Oil – Short Memory Lyrics

Proabably my favourite Midnight Oil song...I've heard some killer live versions of it...I just can't get enough of the way the Peter Garrett rants on for 15 or so seconds right before the song finishes...I wish I knew what he's saying, but it's probably impro. |

Midnight Oil – The Dead Heart Lyrics

Great song...I love how Midnight Oil make anthems like this which are damn catchy and have a great meaning. Also, check out the video clip for this song, it's very powerful..especially the shots of hundreds of tourists walking over the Aboriginal sacred site, Uluru, in fast-foward. |

Midnight Oil – Beds Are Burning Lyrics

It's a shame about the Oils breaking up (for now anyway...) I might not see them live. Anyway, to everyone who doubts Midnight Oil, such as the people above me ^^, you're just misinformed and stupid. Midnight Oil were a great band with a swagful of great songs and I wish more people knew more of their songs than 'Beds Are Burning' and a small handful of others that get played a lot. Other songs to start out on by the Oils which rock include: 'Short Memory', 'Sometimes', 'Truganini', 'Forgotten Years' etc. |

Wipers – D-7 Lyrics

This is a good song...but Nirvana's cover is so bloody awesome! Try and find the one recorded on October 21 1990 in the Peel Sessions where the guitar and bass are mixed out for about 15 seconds during the heavy bit so that it's just Kurt screaming and Dave drumming frantically. Brilliant. The track length for this version that I'm talking about is 2:31. |

The chorus(es) are so catchy:
"Better plan all week
Better plan all month
Better plan all year "
One of my fave DK songs, as always with great lyrical content. |

Dead Kennedys – Holiday in Cambodia Lyrics

Great lyrics...love the 'Pol Pot' chant at the end. The version on 'Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables' is the way to go...the one on 'Give Me Conveinience or Give Me Death' is too tame. |

The Clash – Train in Vain Lyrics

It's so cool that they hid this gem of a song right at the end of the album with a title that hides the chorus to the song. Gotta give em credit for that, this is a fantastic song. |

I saw the Australian band You Am I do a really good cover of this song shortly after Joe Strummer died, it really went over well. |

The Clash – London Calling Lyrics

This song is so good...like many people it was the first Clash song I liked and it still sounds as good as ever today. Love the bass riff at the start. I would have to say that the Clash are the best rock band ever for the fact that they played passionate music about things they beleived in, released a huge volume of music in a short period of time then called it quits. They didn't reform and go on worldwide money-hungry tours like the Rolling Stones and dilute their previous work. The Clash are legends and it's such a shame that Joe Strummer is gone. |

I love the way the guitars add colour 'under' the vocals, like during 'Know me, broken by my master.' And the bass is just incredible! |
