I'm in love with this song. I play it once and I end up playing it 5 times after. To me I think the song is about him trying to move on from his old lover that deep down inside he wishes he could be together with. Of course there is obvious signs that would say this song is about a death of a loved one. I do not disagree with that interpretation but I like mine better, hahaha....Can't wait to see this song live in concert June 26th! |

if what you say (loki86) is seriously what you believe in, then it has nothing to do with Bush. If anything Bush is trying to set things right from screw-ups from past leaders we've had. However, I do not believe what you say has much of any truth to it but you have a right to your own opinion. Don't blame bush for being non-passive like other presidents or leaders. As for this video...haven't seen it yet and where can I see it at???? I really do want to see it now from what I have heard from you faithful PJ fans...oh did i mention June 26th PJ CONCERT!!! |

Agreed on "Mine" being the best Taproot song on their CD. Whole CD is awesome as well. This song is amazing. You have the lyrics all messed up though GlassJaw...Hate when people correct others with minor errors but you do have many lines wrong. everyone should BUY THE TAPROOT CD! |

I wouldnt go as far as saying the best accoustic song for me...but definatly a damn good song. At first, I thought it had to do with his girlfriend committing suicide. "sister confirms suspission" "note beside the bed" . But the more I heard it I do believe it is his lover leaving him and him having to part with his feelings for her. Great song, I like it when hard rock bands slow it down for a track. |

I always thought that the first baby dies: her placenta falls to the floor (doctor accidently dropped the new born baby). Confusion sets in before the doctor can close the door. The angels eyes are open.
next verse: old mother dies (the woman doesnt die but her new baby does), her intentions fall to the floor (her intention of having a baby fell to the floor), angel closes her eyes (baby dies). Then the confusion that was her is now to the baby down the hall that is being born. |

geez, that is a really good question. I love this song and listen to it damn near everyday but never really thought what the words mean...I would have to think that it is about a troubled relationship (lyrics remind me of lyin eyes). I think that the guy and the girl are both cheatin on each other though. And that their relationship is going nowhere and they dont know how to tell each other they had enough. Just a quick guess. |

I think it means exactly how it is writen. Jimmy doesn't use a lot of hidden meaning behind his songs, in fact I don't know if he has any. Now I don't know, he might have tried losing weight and maybe eating veggies but only makin it 70 days. Other than that, I'm sure it means exactly how it sounds. |

Yeah, you are all right when you say that there are many different ways to interpret the meaning of their songs. But when SOAD wrote this song chances are they didn't have four different meanings behind it. Chance are that they wrote the song with one specific meaning in mind and the only reason why they say stuff like the song means nothing or it means whatever you think, is because they dont want to give their meaning out and instead leave it open for everybody. |

First, who is this other tbone character. There is only one tbone, your embarassing the name man. Second, lets try to keep our posts or views to a small book. I mean expressing what you think is one thing but writing a novell is another. Keep it short and sweet. As for me, I have no explanation to the meaning. I'm just waiting for Wang and his brother to figure it all out. When they do post something chances are they are right. I like the idea of the abusive family member though, seems to fit well. The religous idea is a long reach for a meaning. |

my meaning behind the song...
"When daddy went away, he said, try to be a man,
And someday you'll understand...."
-his dad was sent away to war but didn't know how to explain it to his son so he said try to be a man and someday you will understand why he has to leave for war.
Then later in the song- "Think it was September, the year I went away,
For there were many things I didn't know.
And still I see him standing tryin' to be a man,
I said, someday you'll understand.
-the "many things he didn't know" in this verse was why he had to, himself, go away to war...and so he told his son what best he could..."someday you'll understand." This is why it is called "someday will never come" because nobody understands the meaning behind war and why people are sent off to war..."someday we will understand" why, but yet "someday will never come". |

So your saying that the guy in this song goes on a killing spree and is the same guy that found out about his father and that his mother falls for him...the same guy? I always like to know what the lines mean. They need a meaning otherwise Eddie wouldn't put it in...who is he referring to with "backstreet lover"? And at the end "you think I got my eyes closed But I'm lookin at you the whole fuckin time" what does that mean or where is the connection to the story? Please fill me in. |

I always thought that the line went like this: "dead lay in pools of maroon BLOOD" instead of ...maroon BELOW. Seems to fit in better but I could be wrong. Great song, even better that it is a true story, well sad but better. I have never seen the video but am a huge Pearl Jam fan, is there a someplace I could see it somehow? |

That is a good explanation. However, I do not understand this line-"Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice". I always thought that a girl cheated on her boyfriend and got pregnant so she comitted suicide. Her and the baby died. |
