oh jeez people. Jim hated this song. The record company told him that his songs were too dark and that people could not relate to them. He said himself it meant nothing to him. It was a stupid song demanded by corporate America. 16-year-old...no true Doors fan has really commented anything good on this song because it isn't a true Doors song. It's just teenage bullsh*t Jim was forced to spew out. |

This song has to do with when AFI first started out, and they played at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, CA. I've been there many a time. It's an awesome, great place. It's a re-vamped theater/opera house. This song conveys the whole meaning of the Phoenix theater- the people, the music, the dancing, the atmosphere. This is a fantastic song, to say the least, and it's awesome that I'm a regular at the place this great band made a song about! |

Oh my god. This has got to be the greatest Dylan song...in my humble opinion. The guitar is to die for, hearing it is like an orgasm for the full 11+ minutes. I have no idea really what it's about, except for it's definitely about depression and lonliness and how all of humanity is linked through those two elements. Highway 61 Revisted is one of Dylan's best, and this song makes the album, amongst others. I want this song played at my funeral. |

it doesn't necessarily mean he was an alcoholic I don't think. Brad Nowell was great though. People who aren't alcoholics drink to escape too...I can't think of one person I know who hasn't. This is just an awesome song....a great album too! |

This song is actually about the murders committed by the Manson "family" back in the seventies, i believe. Their code name when they discussed their plans was "helter skelter" and there is even a book entitled "helter skelter" written about the murders. |
