The Rolling Stones – Paint It Black Lyrics 22 years ago
I believe this song refers to someone who is really mad or depressed and or just really in a bad mood. So anything not already "black" or depressing, well he plans on making it that way. He's tired of the happy and spunky people who are care free and smitten, so he's gonna paint them a dark color, black. i dig this song a lot.....love it!

Seven Mary Three – Lucky Lyrics 22 years ago
Somebody help me out here......I really like this song...the way it sung and the music....im trying to figure out what it means though. I think that there is this younger, angry man who is pissed at the world. and there is this older cranky, yet wise man, (mr. mustard) that says to the younger man "you can't continue to be bitter against the world. it only makes your life more miserable. trust me i know, i hve been that direction" and the older guy continues to say that "the negative attitude and disdain for the world is contagious". If he's lucky, he will keep his mouth shut and not let out all the bitterness he holds inside.... any other ideas?

Eagles – Desperado Lyrics 22 years ago
I think this song is about a woman ( or a man ) who is afraid to let herself fall in love and let herself be loved. In the first verse it says "i know that you got your reasons"...referring to reasons why she won't let herself be in love, maybe because she was hurt before...that is her reason. Then there is this one person (the singer) who is in love with her whom she keeps overlooking, waiting for something better or perhaps she can't see through the "rain" (her previous pain) that this person(the singer) is waiting to love her. If she would "come down from your fences", or let go of her insecurities and let herself go, then maybe she will see the rainbow through the clouds and let herself be loved.

Don McLean – Vincent (Starry Starry Night) Lyrics 22 years ago
I agree with you stringofpearls. The song clearly depicts the struggles Van Gogh experienced as an artist and as a human being struggling with depression. When I listen to this song, especially the lines "And how you suffered for your sanity And how you tried to set them free" I can clearly feel the artists angst. Don't we sometimes go through a Vincent stage of our own in our own lives??? I think so. Great song, one of the best.

The Beatles – Across the Universe Lyrics 22 years ago
I really love to listen to this song. I'm quite sure what he is actually referring to when the song was written, but my interpretation would be the following: Perhaps there is hope for peace or love through words and thoughts. Maybe such words of joy, happiness and even sorrow are contagious. "Words are flying out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe." I think these words encourage the belief that such words of meaning and feeling, when spoken, can be passed on from person to the next just by the very sound of them and thoughts of them. The very idea that love or sorrow exists, allows for love or sorrow to actually be. Pass it on, those feelings and thoughts. "Sounds of laughter shades of earth are ringing
Through my open views inciting and inviting me.
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns,
It calls me on and on across the universe" -here it is explained how he is surrounded by words of feeling and hope. encouraged by words of all people around the world. not just a certain race or religion....just the kindness of humanity across all of the universe.
