Maxïmo Park – A Fortnight's Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Just an idea but maybe the 5 x 5 = 25 bit is in reference to the straightforwardness of it all, the question of "would you like to go on a date with me?" and all she has to do is say "yes". A simple answer to a simple question. I don't know...maybe not, but all I do know is that this is a great song off an even greater album. I just love Maximo Park. |
Ryan Adams – How Do You Keep Love Alive? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"i would've held your mother's hand On the day you was born" Such an amazing and simple line, which conveys so much. Bascically a song IMO about a guy who is in love with a girl, but it's all gone wrong. He's desperate to hang on to her but doesn't know how to save the relationship and keep it going anymore. But whatever happens, he will never be able to escape from her "She runs through my veins Like a long black river and rattles my cage" Ryan Adams....he is so frightening good, both lyrically and musically. Just a genius. |
Justin Timberlake – LoveStoned/I Think She Knows (Interlude) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
What a song. The best track on the album by a mile....and the interlude is incredible. |
Ryan Adams – Cherry Lane Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Agree with noyes....a beautiful song, and already one of my favourite Ryan tracks. The "I can never get close enough" part towards the end is incredible. To me it's about a guy who is in love with a girl from afar, and the song is about him imagining what it would be like if he were with her and if they "moved into a house down on Cherry Lane". "Stare into her eyes and then try and explain it It's written in a language That was meant to fuck you up" But he obviously can never find the right words to tell her what he feels or "get close enough". "Curled up with a book down on Cherry Lane The glass it hits the floor and you're walking away" Those lines are the most interesting, to me it says even if he did realise his dream he would somehow thinks he would fuck it up anyway and she would end up walking away from him. LOL, that's my interpretation of it anyway but it's probably totally wrong! AMAZING song however. Ryan is a genius. |
David Gray – Debauchery Lyrics | 19 years ago |
How comes there is no comments for this song?It deserves some! A great David Gray track, I love everything off the 'A Century Ends' album really. Blatantly a song about sex, but gorgeously romantic at the same time. |
The Beautiful South – From Under The Covers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree with Mike Spike - I think it is indeed about the banality of life, or just the rut of working in a big city perhaps? Working and never stopping to "climb that tatty rope". One of the many fantastic Beautiful South songs, Paul Heaton's lyrics as usual are just pure genius. |
Ryan Adams – This House Is Not for Sale Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"About a couple that bought a house together then died in a car accident" Yes that's true I think! I remember reading an interview with Ryan somewhere and he did say this song was from the perspective of two people who had died and were ghosts in the house, and reading the lyrics back, Ryan's explanation makes sense. But as with any song, the lyrics can also be interpreted in another way. Anyway I love this song, one of my favourite Ryan tracks. There really isn't many of his songs that I don't like to be honest. |
