• The Royal We

by Unanimated on July 02, 2010 I believe this song is about someone who has manic depression, or just depression, or has an SI disorder. we are ready for the siege we are armed up to the teeth be careful how you live and breathe release what's brewing underneath I think this verse means that the person is getting ready to injure themselves somehow, but I'm going to to typical and say that it's by a razor for this song. "We are ready for the siege/We are armed up to the teeth" means that they are sitting down and getting ready. "Be careful how you live and breathe/Release what's brewing underneath" means that they have to be careful to not get caught, and they have to release the pain that they've kept up inside for some time. how many times do you want to die how many ways do you want to die to feel safe again look over your shoulder very carefully look over your shoulder "How many times/How many ways" means how many times do they want to cut or injure themselves, and how many ways indicates that there are a lot of ways to do that. The looking over the shoulder verse indicates that they have to look over their shoulder to avoid getting caught and maybe sent to a ward. we can laugh about it now we hope everything works out be careful how you lick your wounds believe the change is coming soon "We can laugh about it now/We hope everything works out" talks about when the person is happy and trying to laugh off their disorder. "Be careful how you lick your wounds/Believe the change is coming soon" talks about how they have to hide their wounds carefully so they aren't discovered, and believe the change is coming soon indicates a time when they won't feel the need to do this anymore, when they'll be happy living. how many times do you want to die how many ways do you want to die to feel safe again look over your shoulder very carefully look over your shoulder See above. you used to do a little but a little wont fly and right before you hit your prime that's when we fell in love but not the first time "You used to do a little" talks about how they used to cut or otherwise injure themselves just a little, or with minor injuries, but "a little won't fly" indicates how they don't think they can do that anymore, and they're too depressed to just do it a little. "Right before you hit your prime/That's when we fell in love but not the first time" indicates how right before they hit the "prime" of their cutting stage, they fell in love with the razor or other weapon they're injuring themselves with, but they've been off and on with it for some time, hence "not the first time." can it please you still renaming your father's will or does it make you ill let us bruise their knees we will aim straight for the feed and you'll be relieved "Can it please you still" means can cutting or whatever they do still please them and give them the pleasure they want. "Renaming your father's will/Or does it make you ill" talks about why they're depressed: their family or home life. "Let us bruise their knees/We will aim straight for the feed" means that they will injure themselves, aiming right for the vein or artery. "And you'll be relieved" indicates the feeling of relief that cutting brings the person. so relieved so relieved turn on full desire feel the sparks of the friendly fire misery inspires "Turn on full desire" means that they are in a sublime state of mind, where they don't have a care in the world and they are just with themselves. "Feel the sparks of the friendly fire" talks about feeling the results of having injured themselves. "Misery inspires" refers to the friendly fire thing, like how the misery that the person feels inspired them to cause the friendly fire. your throat has been cut several times before never noticed the size of the flow it can't be ignored "Your throat has been cut several times before" means that they have cut or injured themselves for some time in the past. "Never noticed the size of the flow/It can't be ignored" talks about how they never noticed just how much they had been bleeding, and maybe this time they cut too deep or too much. to feel safe again look over your shoulder very carefully look over your shoulder The subject is paranoid that they won't be able to stop the bleeding or hide their new injury before somebody notices. you said you believed it but believing wont fly and right before you hit your prime that's when we fell in love but not the first time "You said you believed it" means that they believed they wouldn't kill themselves doing this, and "but believing won't fly" means that they've done it too much this time and just believing they won't die won't be enough to save them. "And right before you hit your prime/That's when we fell in love but not the first time" talks about this specific session, about how right before they got in the heat of the moment of injuring themselves they fell in love with the razor or other weapon. and when it's all over and you open your eyes to see the room turned on it's side you'll be lying by a note on the floor signed... ...the royal we the royal we the royal we the royal we the royal we the royal we the royal we the royal we love, the royal we This talks about how they may have lost consciousness for some time, and woke up to see his room trashed and lying by a note. This note could either be his suicide note that they might have written beforehand, or a note from his parents saying something about them. The music stops abruptly to indicate death. I doubt this is right, but that's just what I got after reading over the lyrics constantly for the past few days. No Comments
