  • i went to anti-war.com and made it's iraq casualty counter list my homepage. i did this back in august of last year when there was still the big 08 election stirup between obama and mccain. at that point the media wasn't paying much attention to our soldiers fighting in iraq and afghanistan so i decided that the least i could do was ensure that i be reminded on a daily basis of what was really happening in the world. a kind of anchor if you would. it's the beginning of july now, just had our 4th - happy independence day - and i've witnessed many things: a black man becoming president, michael jackson's death, children getting kidnapped and then being exploited on television - that one really irks me, corporate fraud on a global scale, angelina and brad broke up, pittsburg won two sport titles (go stealers and penguins), the oscars, and you get the idea thing is while all of those events where going on our men and women were still living and fighting in (and still are) a very obscure war in iraq. there were no wmds, no link to al qaeda before the march 03 invasion, and well only a madman (whom our own government put into power in the first place) that brutally victimized his own people. burn in hell saddam - i think the history books will write a VERY accurate biography of you. unfortunately they probably won't nearly be as accurate about the leaders that lied to us and sent our people into a war based on misinformation some people may call me a conspiracy theorist and if that's what they think so be it, i'm neither rich enough or interested enough to hire a publicist to spin my story towards a certain light True patriotism hates injustice in its own land more than anywhere else. – Clarence Darrow for almost a year i've logged on and saw on my homepage a name, where they're from, and when they died. i learned to take it with a grain of salt when i heard friends, family, co-workers being much more concerned over jackson's death than 5 troops getting killed by an ied in iraq not one week ago from this blog posting. i don't have anything against the guy, he was a major icon, it just irks me that things like that steal everyone's attention from what really matters. the media has done a very good job on keeping the american audience looking elsewhere. if they didn't then everybody else would be as poed as me. the only comfort i have is that in the end i believe every person gets what they deserve. i hope some of the individuals i have in mind end up in the same circle of hell saddam went to.
