Originally formed in 1994 in Reykjavík by Einar, Magnús and Doddi (who currently plays drums with Trabant), Dýrðin has taken long pauses and undergone drastic surgeries through the years. The current line-up was more or less in place in 2004 and the band's debut album was released in October 2006 on Skipping Stones Records. The band has long been associated with the Twee movement, albeit with a punkier sound. The lyrics often involve strange love affairs with aliens or frogs, as well as treacherous skiing instructors, jumping grandpas or bees. Most of the lyrics are in Icelandic but the debut CD conveniently has descriptions of the song content.
