... <p>Voice Coils was a brief experimental rock band formed in Brooklyn in 2013. Their music (written mainly by Sam Garrett) and drew inspiration from progressive rock, black metal, and classical music.<br /><br />They released their debut single, "In Sixths/Field And Border" in 2014 on 7" vinyl. In 2015, their first EP, “Heaven’s Sense” released. Right around that time their lead singer, Mitski left the band around that time, seemingly to focus on her solo career after the release of her album “Bury Me At Makeout Creek” in late 2014.<br /><br />The groups' lineup has, over its short lifespan, consisted of:<br />-Sam Garrett – guitar<br />-Caley Monahon-Ward – guitar<br />-Kevin Wunderlich – bass<br />-Kelly Moran – synthesizer, keyboards<br />-Cameron Wisch – drums<br />-Tony Gedrich – bass (left prior to Heaven's Senses release)<br />-Mitski – vocals (left prior to Heaven's Senses release)<br /> <br /><br />Their music has been described as "a terrific blend of spiraling prog riffs, complex arrangements, dark atmospheres and Mitski’s soaring, operatic take on dream pop vocals."</p>
