... <p>Dutch singer songwriter producer from the Netherlands Jonathan Barendsma who had been making music for years mainly in the folk genre was keen to share his story through music. Inspired by the Poetic Eddas and determined to bring the ancient Norse wisdom back to life, Barendsma released his first single Ragnarok under the name Gealdyr in the fall of 2018. With the single, Gealdyr started building a steady following and signed with Danheims Fimbul Records in January 2019. In the following month the single Othala and the EP Saer were released, followed by the album Sol in August. In February 2020 Barendsma moved from Fimbul Records to his own founded label Arvur Records. Acclaimed for his authentic sound and unique vocals, Gealdýr worked together with Danheim on several occasions and created the soundtrack for two motion pictures Valravn and Voluspa which was released on March 10 2020. The name Gealdyr was inspired by Barendsmas sighting of a white deer in a turbulent phase of his life it is a combination of the Gaelic word geal or white and the Old Norse word dyr or deer.</p>
