This Century is a four-piece pop rock band from Phoenix, Arizona. It is made up of Joel Kanitz (vocals), Ryan Gose (drums), Sean Silverman (lead guitar), and Alex Silverman (bass and piano). They were still in high school when they were formed. And they tried using names like "Modern Poets" and "Evident Earth". Eventually, they decided on "This Century" when Sean Silverman joked that they would be "lucky if they could come up with a band name sometime this century."
Their first EP was released in 2007 and was called 2007 EP. They continued to release EPs and singles. And in 2008 they were signed under Tim Kirch and Tanner Radcliffe at Eighty One Twenty Three Management. In 2010 they were signed to Action Theory Records.
On April 19, 2011 they released their debut album Sound of Fire. That summer, they also went on their first headlining tour called the "Young And Useless Tour" with Cartel Hulsey and Austin Gibbs.
In the summer of 2012, they went on "The Endless Summer Tour" where they were the headliner with Austin Gibbs.
They released their sophomore album Biography of Heartbreak on May 14, 2013. It was produced by Colby Wedgeworth. In support of the album, This Century joined the 8123 tour.
