Sara started as an industrial tinged metal band, with Korn being a notable influence. They released three demo tapes in the 90s and partook in an independent compilation CD before landing a record deal when winning in first place in the Finnish "Ääni ja vimma" music competition.
They released three albums -- Narupatsaat, Kromi and Saattue -- with heavy electronic influences, on Klamydia's Kråklund Records before taking a break. In 2006, Sara made a record deal with Universal Music, whom they released three albums -- He kutsuivat luokseen, Veden äärelle and Se keinuttaa meitä ajassa -- with, marking a shift towards more pop influenced style.
After taking another break in 2012, Sara released three EPs, which they later compiled onto a self-published full length album, SOLUS, which shifted away from guitars towards to a more electronic style.
