Lyric discussion by Zeke034

The first time I watched Surf's Up this song had me hooked. It's so beautiful and the Nine Black Alps' singer has such a perfect voice for the melody. I think the song is about a Man who is tired of fake love. He wants to find "the one" for him. Such as when he says "I don't know who you are, And I don't know where you've been." Even though he doesn't know who the person is, he still knows there is someone out there who is perfect for him. Also when he says, "I need a miracle, A star-crossed lover, An arrow in my heart." he is referring to the fact that he needs the love to happen imminently because he is tired of waiting. Knowing that won't happen, he needs a miracle, or his wishes to just come true. The song title/lyric: "A pocket full of stars" refers to wanting to have a bunch of wishes (shooting stars) in his pocket at his disposal to use. I also feel like these lyrics, "Maybe you're just like me, You see the faces in the crowd, Looking down at their feet, Never once make a sound." is talking about the fact that instead of looking for love, he is waiting for it to come to him. That's why he needs the wishes so he can just receive the love without having to go looking for it. And he is just wondering/hoping that there is someone else out there who is dealing with the same issue. But, that's just what I think.
