Wow. I see I am coming at this much later on…here goes. The title itself “Raining on the Sky” means the world is about to be, or just was turned upside down. One cannot ‘rain on the sky’ from the ground up.

First Verse:

We are in metropolis and it’s night. The hum of the neon lights cannot keep rhythm with whatever song is playing. If our world has just been turned upside down, this means a new song rhythm is probability playing that the lights have not been calibrated to. The warm lipstick - a woman is present. The playground are the streets of metropolis and the moonlight has turned them into a playground.

Moving shadows means we are driving on these streets or riding on a bus or a train. A woman (probably the target love interest of the song) has had a manicure on he nails and is fresh from a bath where she has splashed with Jean Nate after wash. We are getting ready to go out dancing for a night on the town. At this club/bar/house party, people will all be trying to make a fresh start, building bridges from alivers of another’s dreams.

Refrain: The pursuer pledges to get whatever his love interest wants. He also confirms that should she kiss him, it will seal this evenings bond or “tie” them together going forward.

Third Verse:

The two love interests are taking a checkered cab home. She falls asleep and dreams about Alice in Wonderland. The “Maddest Hatter” (her recent ex-boyfriend) has had her up until recently. In her dream this ex boyfriend (The Maddest Hatter) is assuring her that she is now spoken for by this new man she met tonight, and she is “home at last.” She’s been spoiled by rich men with Cadillac’s and bubble baths, but if she gives the new man the word, she’ll be home at last. Meaning with him, under more stable and less in the way of financial means, but happy, because this new man looks beyond her past and forgets about it.

Refrain: again, ledge to do whatever she wants.

Fourth verse: When your heart aches with Verizon. It has turned into a new day. Her caked eye lash and torn nylons represent her old way of doing things, but now we have a fresh beginning with this new man who is willing to look past her history. The two of them begin their new life together, upside down from the earlier life, by being able to go “Rainin on the Sky”…
