I’d say it’s about her father.

The one man every girl should be able to count on is her father and it sounds like this guy was so emotionally distant and/or neglectful that the only other male role model she could reach out to was her concept of a deity (Heavenly Father please save me) to deal with her despair and emotional abandonment
