I've always heard the lyrics slightly differently;
"Sorrow's frozen my mind" sounds like "Sorrow always grows in my mind"
Probably because I dealt with depression in high school and it's really easy for it to spiral out of control with a bad thought.
"My heart is covered with thoughts entangled" sounds like "My heart is covered in thorns and tangles"
draws from my attraction to gothic imagery and the fact that I started playing Magic: The Gathering around the same time I discovered Within Temptation. In MTG, The Tangle is a forest made of thorny spire-like structures.
