Could this one be as simple as based on Batman (esp. the animated series of the same name)?
The first verse about ambition crumbling etc. could be based on the murder of Bruce Wayne's parents...
The 'weak ones' could be those who refuse to do anything (ordinary citizens who need help) who fear and yet treat him like a criminal.
The burden/ cancer in the 2nd verse could be the crime all around him. He needs to fight it and make the world a better place.
'No longer alone tonight' could be a reference to Batman and Robin or other helper. It could also mean that 'Bruce' is there as well as 'Batman'- that he is both people and thus, never alone when fighting crime.
