I just listened to David's Bowie "Stay" and noticed the intro and the riff is very similar to those of "Smothered Hope", but with a disco flavor. It's much more than just a coincidence. Does anyone know if is it explicitly an inspiration?

After Bowie passed away this year, cEvin posted on Facebook that seeing him in concert in 1976 was a life-changing moment for him. That would have been the Station to Station tour, which indeed is the album Stay is from. Rest his soul, Bowie was a hugely syncretic artist who was always borrowing inspiration from other musicians in any genre and inspiring them in turn.
