I really think this song pretty much explains itself. No need to dissect it. It is a song about a man who meets a woman, that in time he falls in love with, but the woman is always leaving him alone. She is all caught up on the material things of Life. No matter what he does for her..it is never enough. So.... He hangs on..and on..until he can't hang on no more.
