And as for my own interpritation, I think the song is speaking about being careful around some people you let into your heart, because usually your heart will make petty decisions and relaxing your mind isn't the wisest choice and if you do happen to let this person in it's going to be hard to get them out of your mind (i.e: the dark you can't repel.)
