First of all I get that this is a story based concept album, but I had a real-world interpretation of it. I get the impression of someone looking back on a time when they were less successful/unrecognized, and they realize that all of the fighting and struggle to get to where they want to be has only led them to the same world that is still falling apart as it was before.
