I think its about a stalker who has killed a girl he's obsessed with. Normalcy didn't work for him and he sees it as a flaw that the girl he obsesses over has. He wants to set her apart by interrupting her promising life.

She's looking out the curtains trying to hide her face because she's paranoid. He's watching her, so I guess she should be.

Think of a horror movie. "Before I get to you, and I always do" the killer always gets to the victim. Even if he's just leisurely walking.

"You've got your hand up in the window, Like the baseball bat lying next to your bed to protect yourself, oh but its just a joke, a silly dream." He's kidnapped her. Shes in the car trying to flag down help, Possibly save her self. The same way she kept her bat by the bed, to save herself incase of an emergency. She's holding on to the thin possibility of hope that she may survive this. Of course this guy knows better, he's probably done this before, and they never get away. He probably thinks its laughably ironic because he knows she's already as good as dead. "Its such a joke."

after whatever hell he's put her through, she's dead now. He's dumped her body in the sea, Its decomposing and it eventually gets washed ashore a on a beach where kids are playing. I think the song might be about the kids mostly. Living a fun happy life while death is inevitable and possible at any moment despite precautions taken, dreams or happiness. Playing care free, Like a pop song. this girl was clenching on to innocence in blatant ignorance of the the strength of this world's evil.

:D
