We were too wasted to close the window Friends and family looking in to my only hiding place The rhythm of a strangers skin

(I think this is a metaphor but it does concern her sleeping with random strangers. She feels most comfortable sleeping around and feeling the rhythm of a strangers skin.)

Infidel to die for What I am doing Will happen in the morning When the mirror won't recognize me

(She feels like she's going against religion by sleeping around. Even worse she's going against herself. When she wakes up in the morning and looks in the mirror she won't recognize what she's become)

He holds a certain gesture When we're loving to ask each other Do you want it Do you want me I want it, it is you You are where I want to be

(She looks for love or reassurance in the throws of sexual contact. She associates love with sex so she hopes these people love her. 'You are where I want to be' is such a sad, fleeting feeling because when they're done she isn't where he wants to be anymore.)

Who is he? (oh) Why would I (do) Hitch a ride? (the) I can drive. (twist) Who is she? (oh) Why would I (do) Hitch a ride (the) When I can drive. (twist)

(I think this talks about how she goes home with other people even though she drove herself. Perhaps she's thinking of excuses why she needs to leave with them)

Somebody put me back in school I forget everything I used to know How to leave the boy behind Without having to watch him go

(She sleeps with these people and before she used to be able to do it effortlessly but now she starts to care about them because this is the closest she has to a relationship. She doesn't know how to kick the boy out in the morning without watching him through the window.)

(I understand the story of the song but I still don't understand the relevence of 'The Twist' but maybe the twist is just a metaphor for sex)
