In my opinion, this is about a guy in love with a girl is in no way in love with him.. Perhaps, she is cold after falling out of love with him.
Her love is the first thing he remembered and is not the last thing left on him mind. Now he is afraid of the dark ( not knowing ) and wants to know if she hears him whisper ( telling her how he feels). An empty heart ( pointing out that he felt nothing for her), replaced with paranoia ( now he is scared that he lost her completely). In the next line he reiterates this idea as he says that he is lost without her because he thinks they had something. This is hard for him, and he feels like she doesnt recognize him because she no longer gives him the attention she used to. To her he feels like he doesnt exist (he is dead her). He knows he is wrong, but he cant help but believing.
at this point I start to think that this boy also hurt the girl, as he wants to explain himself, pointing out that he was lost, but he doesnt know what to say.
After that, he takes the point of view of of the girl. She is cold because she is disappointed by him... and he hates himself for messing up. He is the last contagious victim between them.. meaning that First she hates him for hurting her, and now he hates himself. He is angry with himself, he wants to be in pain, and he wants to be hurt. He is exhausted mentally and just wants this to be over, and he is dreading for the moment where his love completely cuts him out of her life ( death= loss) because at that point he has no hope of being with his love..
