I never feel comfortable by giving such a specific interpretation to someone elses song,
but in this one as in many other of reginas song, i feel it could be a satire
on catholic customs, virgin marys cult, in this case italian mafia.
if it were about mexican cartels it would be saying... "heeey juannito, how I wonder, la guadalupana when she speaks she tell the truth, no?" hahaha because here in mexico we do the "no?" question a lot as well as they do in italy, and the mexican cartels people are very well devoted to the virgin as well.
