It's actually saddening how much this reminds me of Miley Cyrus.

"It was a common story, yeah who cares that I changed? Why are people freaking out?"

{{She doesn't get why people freak out about the "new" her.}}

"But the truth was I was really getting nowhere until I woke up and found That morals can't take you up to the top your standards pull you down"

{{She thinks she'll be more popular being some "sexy rebel."}}

"I always said the thing that meant the most to me was my very integrity Who would have thought I'd ever trade it all for popularity"

{{Purity rings, etc. - where'd all that go? It's gone, all for popularity and fame.}}

"Cause the truth is though I've made it to the top I'm anything but satisfied I gave up the only thing that mattered for this empty life"

{{In a world where looks and vanity and money are all that seem to matter, Jesus is really the only thing that matters.}}

I hope Miley turns her life around. It's sad, the choices she's made.
