the concept of the 'child' everyone speaks of makes perfect sense, yet i also have my own opinion of the lyrical meaning:

i interpreted the last three lines of the song as very literal in content (planting said seeds soil). henry david thoreau wrote a book entitled "walden" which depicted man with a personal declaration of freedom , spiritual discovery, and self-reliance all the while disregarding the rest of society to flee into the woods for a more satisfying life style.

"planting seeds can't be the only way to find a simple day, a simpler way" is this sort of cry of doubt about how can it really be so that in this world the only way to experience complete happiness is to let all material possessions go and separate yourself from the hardships of society.
