Interesting song, and I can fully relate to his plight. I'm a loner too (though I don't like to be) and this song kind of connects to me as I'm sure it does with others who've heard it and are in a similar position.
I think the first verse is referring to life taking him where it may, just going where the wind blows, and when he "has a problem" he wants the wind to take him away again so he can move on.
I love the part where he sings "Drove those demons; Ouf of my head; With an organ and a pencil full of lead". I think it refers to exorcising his inner demons by writing music (with the organ) and lyrics (with his pencil of lead) and oozing out all his feelings of loneliness on to paper. I feel exactly the same way when I write songs (though I'm only a novice songwriter). I've never had a girlfriend or anything like that (and I'm nearly 19 so that hurts) so when I write songs about my feelings of being lonely and empty day after day, night after night, it's kind of therapeutic. It sets me free, as I'm sure it set Daniel free, hence the lines "And I'm free; Free at last; Like a monkey out of its cage" after the performance is over.
