While I do agree with the above "longing for her"/heartache interpretation (that's why it works so well as a Thom Yorke song, I see this theme all over The Eraser), there's more to the song.

There are also undercurrents of sort of struggling as you hit your 30s, and maybe a pull between doing what you should, and what you dream. (His brother is cutting grass, but he's unsure if that's the life he wants. What exactly is 'all for the best'?)
