Maybe I don't like change or something, but this new album doesn't sound too good to me.
They sound like they want to get back to the old Goddamnit sound, and opening does that. The voice though, it's just too smooth, too produced. Before, when Matt still did coke, his voice was raspy, which was a great thing. This album, along with Agony and Irony, just sounds too smooth. :(
Also, their lyrics seem to have gotten simpler. I mean, they're still good, but songs like Blue in the Face had soo many meanings you could get from it, these songs are just straightforward, they're exactly what you think they mean.
this album is less produced than the last 2...especially the last one irony & agony (on epic). they did this one on their own and then handed it to epitaph as was. matt's raspy voice had nothing to do with his coke habit he had vocal cord surgery.

i think this is definitely better than the last 2. they've never been known to have complex lyrics and i think that's why so many relate to them. now that matt's (was) heartbroken again his lyrics are the way they should be!

can you blame someone for wanting to do more with there life than blow coke and and be poor. Skiba had to grow up sometime and his music was bound to reflect that

yes that's true... he could of stopped doing coke, but the coke is a minor thing. they didn't have to release two sellout CDs to get money and the voice isn't my main reason to dislike the album. their lyrics are horrible now, they aren't clever or anything... and now they have nothing that sounds like alkaline trio anymore. They sound like any other band.
