I really like ur interpretation on this I dont think this is anything to do with a threesome. i honestly dont see banks being that blantant with his lyrics I think the song is about 2 people who have been together for a long period but now that something has changed between them and that time is being cruel by forcing them to face up to the fact that they have to go their separte ways. The narrator seems to no longer struggle with this issue, ur idea on the cheating theory may be quiet accurate as the song title says "No I in threesome" the I could be him that he is no longer part of the triangle which would be the infidelity
