I like barifkin's explanation better than mine, but I love Umphrey's so I just wanted to add another comment. I think it sounds like it's about procrastination, and how laziness and putting things off has torn his soul and motivation. Like with all of the time wasted, there is nothing left but regret and no excuses for that kind of behavior. That interpretation only really matches half of the lyrics though, because the other parts say how they have found a way out, and "it's all your circus now" which sound for sure like a good thing. However, it sounds like he just can't take his own advice, or feels powerless to overcome the laziness, so even though they found a way out, he needs to be dragged along. Like the way some people get really lazy when smoking up, and smoke away years of their lives, only to regret it later on.
