To me this song makes me think about how God can be anywhere, and that He's always with you in spirit. It could definitely be about a girl; however, I do know that Adam Young (Owl City) is Christian, and the line "if you cut me I suppose I would bleed, the colors of the evening stars" makes me think about God up in the sky. Plus, the line "I am the black in the book, the letters on the pages that you memorize" makes me think about how God is present in the Bible. This is just the way I look at it though; it's what really connects with me. If it does with you too, then awesome. And if it doesn't, awesome all the same. I believe you try to enjoy the music the most you can. So totally disregard this if it doesn't make the song more enjoyable to you. Just my opninion. :)

I completely agree with you. I interpret it as God telling us he is everywhere. God is love, God is everything around us, so it makes the most sense to me. "You can go anywhere you wish cause I'll be there, wherever you are." God is really with us all the time!

This could be about a girl, too, but as our human relationships are just foreshadowings of our marriage to God in Heaven, I think it relates either way.

I listened to this song for the first time today (really listened to it), and I was totally overwhelmed with emotion. I also agree that this song is about God being everywhere! The way Adam describes it is just crazy! :D

I completely agree! That was my first thought. I love this song. It really makes you realize all of His many creations. <3
