the verses seem to use a car crash as a metaphor for human nature. the bridge is probably talking about how emotions build up and people just hold it in, because they're afraid of being ridiculed etc. Not too sure on the refrain, though it seems to point to people always feeling every action in their consciences "he looks in the mirror, for it's always telling the truth", "here come the locusts again", etc., and likens the conscience to Tiresias[sp? i didnt scroll back up to check]
