Actually it is "Matryoshka". Babooshka means exactly "old woman" and "grandma". Believe me 'cos I'm Russian :)

Ah cool! Cheers for clearing that up. That would make more sense then! The woman must feel like she's older and less-appealing and in so decides to jazz herself up to pique his interest again.
