The song is about Uther Pendragon, late king of Britain. He had a falling out with the Duke of Cornwall. Uther had Merlin cast a spell so that Uther looked like the Duke, then he went and seduced the Duke's wife. She gave birth to Arthur (i.e. King Arthur).
