I think this song my be referencing towards the invisible children...maybe im way off? it just seems so much like it. these children in uganda are suffering every day because they are being abducted by an army in which will either force them into sex slavery, be taken and brainwashed to be apart of what they call the LRA (Lord Resistance Army), or just to kill them. i think there are numerous references to this... "Deep in the past, far in the future time" --not only could this possibly mean the detrimental long term affects of these children but it could also be in reference to the war. it started in the early 80s and to this day there is no end.

"They say they know me but they only know my name They're through asking me questions, I ain't gonna learn to sing" --possibly could be in reference to the brainwashing that takes place

"If they want it they can take it, they don't need no reason why" --it could mean the childs life?

"They bound my eyes and they bound my hands Where they're gonna take me now? No one understands" --obviously abduction. i think the "no one understands" could be referencing to the young and innocent minds that are incapable of understanding what is happening.

"Lay the hands upon me now, it's midnight blue They didn't know me and they didn't know you, no, no" --possibly referencing towards the sex slavery because it kind of seems like its an invasion of personal space. it could possibly be about the abuse they may undergo from the LRA as well.

"Now reduced to hide in the dark when they came for you" --this is a fairly common fact about the invisible children, every night they have to travel miles to hide away from the LRA.

other possible references:

"Woe unto them if they touch a hair on your head"

i dont mean to make it political, its just it reminded me so much of it. maybe im being too specific, it could be just referring to abduction and/or sex slavery in general.
