to me bryce is obviously in love with a girl that doesn't even realize how much she means to him, or how she unintentional hurts him. but also about how he is changing to try to be a better person so maybe she will look at him differently like how he sings "On a scale of how much you make me feel closer to heaven" to me that means how he is always praying to god for her to be his, or how he says "When you're away I try to be so right" or "I'm making myself good so the day that I come to you," like he is trying to be a better person.
