He is still optimistic about the situation, and he will not forget what happened. He questions the reason why this person left him.

I see it how after this person left him, he is beginning to be filled with conflict and insecurity He is als asking the person to them to lookg on the inside to see the real him and how that is who he is; not what they see on the outside.

He is saying if this person believed in him and trusted him the way he did with them, they would still be together and wouldnt be in this situation.

This probably means that they have been broken up for a while, and he is reflecting back on how Feburary was either the climax of their realtionship, or the last month of it.
And...yeah...thats how I see it.
