I love this song. When it came out, my two Grandpas fell ill, during the same week. I listened to it often during long car rides to see them after they were moved to hospice. Now I've moved on, but sometimes I put this song on, and I think about what it meant to me.

Sadness is on, Just one more moment And I am leaving. [All of us at some point in our lives will sit at the bedside of a loved one, engulfed in sadness, knowing this is the last time we will see them. We often take "one more moment" before reluctantly leaving and moving on.]

Few words on a small note, While you are asleep I can only steal away That's how I tend to be.

There are things I never get to say, The fear in me always in the way. A broken heart never mended, A hurt I can never forget. [These two paragraphs always make me think of that point when that loved one is still alive, but isn't likely to wake up or be the same that you remember. Maybe they are in a coma. We often talk about the times we shared to that person, hoping that they can hear. We may feel regret that this person will not hear what we are saying after all, wishing we could tell them one last thing.]

[And then the title... ] Beauty hides in the deep, Beauty hides in the deep But it's so hard to find, Being wrapped up inside. [This reminds me of the feeling that you get that things cannot possibly feel right, get back to normal after this person is gone. We know we must press on, but it seems impossible.]

I want you to know I'll never forget you.

I want you to know I'll never forget you. [This last two lines speak for themselves. Powerful song. Maybe my interpretation isn't what the artist had in mind, but it touched me all the same.]
