Actually, after hearing the original Geto Boys' version... I can say Manson IS the very disease they pretend to have. That hip-hop at most makes one dance (if one likes it), but nothing else...

Marilyn Manson didn't even sing it. He just talked. And anyone who thinks Manson is a serious form of art is just kidding themselves. His lyrics are shyt, and someone needs to let him know that screaming and moaning =/= singing. Rap is just a serious a form of art as any, but really no music should be taken so seriously.

Eye patched pete, no one said Manson sang the song. He just talked, sure. You think many serial killers sing to their victims?

That is the point I made, read again - Manson IS the very disease they pretend to have. Manson did not sing it, he was it - at least for those 9 minutes.

I'd be willing to bet the the Geto Boys have seen more violence up close and personal in their lifetime than Manson has, if anyone's pretending it's Manson.

The above applies to your hip hoppers with their "up close" violence, their white furs on their black skin and big, golden items on their... well everywhere if possible. Fake ones will do as real ones cost too much.

See, now you're just making ignorant generalizations. That's a whole different type of rap, that's modern rap which is a big fucking middle finger to what it used to be. The Geto Boys were from the street, born and raised on the streets, they were the real deal. I dare you to try to find a picture of them in white fur and gold chains. They probably didn't make enough money for chains, like most good artists, they never received a lot of mainstream success, due to graphic lyrics depicting rape, sex, murder, violence, drug use, and necrophilia. But you...

But you know what else? The rappers that do wear the gold chains and shit, they wear it because they're proud of how far they've come. These aren't the privileged white kids whining about how nobody understand them, these are people born dirt fucking poor, so when they make it big, can afford to move out of a shitty neighborhood, fuck yeah they're going to show it off, because now they actually have something to show off.[/rant]
Oh, and just so you don't get the wrong idea, I'm not a hardcore rap fan yo. The Geto Boys just happen to be one of my favorite groups. I'm actually more into goth rock. And while I may not like Marilyn Manson, I don't dislike him either. His cover of Sweet Dreams was pretty badass, the rest of his music, can't really get passed his voice, but he seems to be a pretty talented lyricist. I just happen to think this is a terrible cover of one of my favorite songs.

Reciting lyrics on rhythms for 10 yo (hip hop) could be catchy but it could never be serious.
