TFU... I would say that I would have to agree with you. Although I hate to agree with the statement "Considering the Seattle scene its almost certainly about heroin..." I would have to that this song is about heroin. "Did you hear the distant cry, calling me back to my sin..." I mean in the first line he is basically telling you what the song is about. Trying to pin the blame on the drug itself removing himself of any fault, classic addiction 101. Trying to justify it in his mind.

"There's a rider that's fallen and It's clear there's no time to return..." He is saying that he's become complacent with the fact that this addiction will never change, no matter how far it takes him, or who he will lose in path towards self destruction. Honestly one of the saddest song I've heard...

Agreed, "klue," but the harmony is really a cry for help, and this is a song about loss,pure and simple.
