I think Chris gave up on writing lyrics. How does "I feel like all the stars are falling inside my heart" even begin to compare to something like "you've become a ghost, you're floating somewhere in between the waking world and a landscape of dreams"?
I love Saves the Day to death, and I like the new album, but Chris' lyrical genius peaked at In Reverie. Under the Boards is filled with shallow, cliché, literal verses that pale in comparison to the deep, sorrowful, metaphoric lyrics of previous works. It's difficult to listen to this album knowing how utterly sublime StD can be.
