Obviously this song is about the loss of someone, though I don't know whether or not it is about a significant other. Perhaps it was a life long friend that left or died. I'm leaning more toward the death option because of the words "...they'll come get me to place me next to you". It sounds like he's waiting to die so he can be near his friend/S.O., six feet under. It's an understandable feeling.
On a lighter note, is anyone besides me annoyed at the way he sings "they're taking you away" at the beginning of the song? He sounds like he's saying "avay". Gah. Otherwise, great song.
